“Sonic” Shoots to the top, “Parasite” infects the top 10, Will Ferrell’s latest goes “Downhill”

At the top spot this weekend, Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog brings in $58 million over the three-day holiday weekend, the blue beast brought in $12 million on President’s Day bringing it’s 4-day total to $70 million. Internationally, the film pulled in $43 million for the weekend including $6.7 million from Mexico, $6.2 million from the United Kingdom and $4.3 million from France. Worldwide, the overall debut is at $113 million.

Down to second this weekend, Warner Brothers’ Birds of Prey brought in $17.3 million down 47.6% from its depressed opening weekend of $33 million. The total stands at $59.4 million after 10 days of release. Internationally, the film brought in $23 million bringing its international total to $83.6 million. It dropped 19% in Germany, 29% in France ($5 million), 30% in Australia ($5 million) and 35% in the United Kingdom ($7.6 million) where its down to 5th place already.

In third place Sony/Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island brings in $12.4 million for the 3-day weekend and $14 million for the 4-day weekend. This means the film has made back its $7 million budget in the first four days, using the rough rule of thumb 50% of domestic hauls to the studio. Internationally, the film brought in $7.6 million including $1.3 million from France, $950,000 from Indonesia and $700,000 from Australia. Worldwide, the film is at $21.6 million.

Universal’s The Photograph debuts in the domestic market with $12.2 million over the 3-day weekend and $13.3 million over the 4-day.

Sony’s Bad Boys For Life takes the fifth place down 5% to $11.4 million for the three day weekend and $13 million for the four day holiday weekend. Internationally, the film brought in $11.1 million to bring its cumulative gross to $187 million and a worldwide gross to $368 million. International totals stand at $18.7 million in the United Kingdom, $16 million in Mexico, $12 million in Mexico and $11.7 million in Russia.

Universal’s 1917 brings in $8.1 million for the three day weekend and $9.4 million for the four day weekend. Domestically, the film stands at a stellar $145.7 million. Internationally, it brought in $13.6 million for the weekend bringing its international total to $178.1 million including the UK’s $51.5 million where the film is now eOne’s biggest UK release of all time. It has also pulled in $14.4 million from France, $14.2 million in Australia, $9.6 million in Spain and $8.9 million in the Netherlands. It also debuted in Japan this week with $2.15 million, 16% above Bridge of Spies. Worldwide, the total has reached $322.5 million.

Neon’s Parasite is up four spots to number seven this weekend with $5.7 million, up an incredible 245.3%, including President’s Day the film had a 4-day of $6.8 million with a haul of $44.5 million domestically. Internationally, the film pulled in $134.6 million including hauls from Australia where it had its biggest weekend ever after 34 weekends of release. The worldwide total stands at $179.1 million.

In eighth place, Sony’s Jumanji: The Next Level is down only 0.8% for a $5.5 million 3-day weekend, the film also pulled in $6.7 million for the 4-day. Internationally, the third Jumanji film pulled in $1.9 million for a $473 million cumulative gross. That pushes the worldwide gross to $779 million.

Universal’s Dolittle is down five spots to number five down 25.8% at $4.9 million for the 3-day, the 4-day stands at $6 million. The domestic haul is currently at $71.4 million. Internationally, the film brought in $8.8 million bringing its cumulative gross to $110.6 million. Worldwide, currently stands at $181.1 million.

In tenth place is the debut of Fox Searchlight’s Downhill opens with a 3-day of $4.6 million and had a 4-day of $5.1 million. Internationally, the film got $12,331.
